OHYEAH?!OHYEAH?!PHYEAH?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep Calm and watch Star Trek. For this mood, perhaps ‘A Taste of Armageddon’ for some bad day perspective 🙂
and ‘A Piece of the Action’ to swing it around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m in more of “The Omega Glory” kinda mood. Morgan Woodward is freakin’ brilliant in that role.
No argument from me – always like a story when the Yangs beat the Coms, with some good ole E pleb me sta thrown in 🙂
I do love Woodward in that part, but as far as sheer fun over the top, it’s hard to beat William Windom in “The Doomsday Machine” – my second favorite episode of all time.
I agree… I keep watching “The Doomsday Machine” over and over again both for his performance and for the improved graphics of the damaged Constellation in the remastered version of the show.
I watched “The Ultimate Computer” again the other day, too. That’s a fun episode as well.
I love the remastered stuff – have all the blu-rays – all kinds of fun new bits. I watched “The Man Trap” a couple of nights ago and they show a long shot of the ruins that Kirk and McCoy are beaming down to – just a few seconds, but things like that make it worth the money – to say nothing of the rich colors and precision focus.
I have a short list of “go to” episodes when I need my comfort Trek fix, and Doomsday is right at the top, along with Omega, Armageddon, City, and a few others.
Agreed. I got the remastered season one on HD-DVD when they first came out. Then the format died. I was pissed. I haven’t taken the plunge on the bluray set to replace them.
Ooooo I watched “City” too! I had forgotten how good that episode is, though a lot of Edith Keeler’s dialogue is REALLY cheesy — even in context.
I was given the remaster HD-DVD’s from a friend at Reuters, and now have the blu-rays, to be honest they’re about the same in quality.
Yeah, but there’s three seasons of em! lol.. The HD-DVD only did the first season that way. Seasons 2 and 3 are standard definition only.
“indeed I do Mr. Kirk” – yes some of hers is, but that episode still stands as my favorite, just beating Doomsday
Oh, I had them all – I thought they were all fixed up. But I turned them into to Amoeba Music for store credit for he Blu-Rays – got a good price for them if memory serves.
There’s a zillion of those I haven’t seen in awhile. I almost always find a half dozen that I like. A couple weekends ago, I binge watched the first four movies. The director’s cut of ST:TMP is a far different movie — still not very good, but it has a point that was missing in the theatrical release.
One of these days, I’ll upgrade. 🙂
I still have an HD-DVD drive for a computer. I should hook it up and rip the high definition versions.
I do like the directors cut of ST TMP, and yes, I know it’s not very good but it has a special place in my Trek heart = and I always love Kahn. I’m planning on a binge watch with a friend of mine in the next couple of weeks. I’m picking my 10 best, but I think she’ll only be able to sit for 5 or so 🙂
Ten best? From TOS? Hmmm… I’ll have to give that some thought. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever made a list past three or four. However, I DO think my next blog post will be along those lines.
Well let me know, I’ll make sure to read it. I was thinking of this just last night and to be honest, getting it down to 10 is pretty hard – 12 or 14 is easy, but just 10 is hard 🙂
Write ’em down. Give me your ten best and wrap ’em into an essay and we’ll run ’em together.
I wonder if your ten would be my ten, and in what order 🙂
Dan: LOVE MORGAN FREEMAN!!! Dagger of the Mind!!!
That’s Morgan WOODWARD, Michael. 🙂
Frank — write it up and I’ll write mine. Say in the next few days. No collaboration until we’re both done.
A week or so? 🙂 It’ll be fun!
Deal – a week should be perfect, should be able to send you it later over the weekend 🙂
That’s good! I’ll have to do a little homework, but I can make a week.
I’m not going to pick the ten most significant – but my 10 favorite. For instance, a significant one like “Platos Stepchildren” for the inter-racial kiss is an important episode, but not one of my favs.
No, definitely favorite. This isn’t about social consciousness, this is about fun and personal preference.
This sounds fun 🙂
I think so too. I am way up for this. I am motivated to see if I can get the season one HD-DVD’s on my hard drive again.
And if you can’t well then you’ll just have to fly out to LA and sit on my couch and watch the blu-rays on my big plasma screen tv 🙂
I think we kind of zoomed past you there Michael, sorry about that – just spreading the Trek love here, Dan and I can do Trek Chat at warp speed 🙂
I just reinstalled the HD-DVD drive and it seems to be working OK. 🙂 I’ll let you know after the first rip whether it works as advertised.
SHIT! Damn… etc… Morgan Woodward… in my defense, I also like the movie Morgan. I ain’t made a mistake like this since… oh, today.
